When Crane-Assisted Is The Right Method

When felling simply won't fit

Crane-assisted dismantling is for the large or awkward-access trees where a straight fell isn't possible. If you've been told a tree is "too close" or "too big," this is the method that gets it out.

01

No Safe Fell Zone

There's nowhere for the tree to go on the ground — so we lift each section out instead of dropping it.

02

Over Buildings Or Conservatories

A large tree overhanging a house, extension or glass roof, lifted clear rather than rigged down over it.

03

Over Roads Or Structures

Sections craned to a safe set-down away from the road, with traffic management arranged where needed.

04

Very Tall Or Heavy Specimens

Big oak, beech, poplar or pine where the weight makes rigging alone slow or risky.

05

Limited Garden Access

No room for machinery or a drop — the crane reaches over the obstacle and lifts the tree out in sections.

06

Tight, Sensitive Sites

Walled gardens, listed surroundings, neighbouring property — planned to protect everything around the tree.

How A Crane Removal Works

Planned to the last section

Every crane job starts with a site survey and a lift plan: rigging points, section weights, the crane's set-up position and the safe set-down. Nothing is lifted that hasn't been calculated.

Our climbers cut each section; the crane lifts it clear to a safe landing area; the ground crew processes it. Sectional, controlled, and clear of everything you can't damage.

Crane Via Partner, Climbers In-House

One accountable team on your site

The crane is supplied through our established crane partner; Ferguson provides the NPTC and City & Guilds Level 3 climbers, the ground crew and the on-site planning. We hold the City & Guilds Level 3 (0039-34) ticket for trees over 760mm — the proof you want for big-tree work.

Road closures, drop-zone protection and property protection are arranged as part of the job. £10m public liability, FISA throughout.

Processed On Site

Lifted out, chipped, cleared away

Once the tree is craned down, we process and chip it on site with our own kit — no convoy of vehicles carting whole limbs across the city.

You're left with a clean site, a single point of accountability, and a written quote with no subcontracting surprises.

How It Works

Survey to safe set-down

01

Site survey & lift plan

We assess access, drop zone and section weights, and plan the crane set-up.

02

Permits & protection

Road closures / traffic management and drop-zone protection arranged where needed.

03

Sectional crane take-down

Climbers cut, the crane lifts each section clear to a safe set-down.

Common Questions

Before you call

When do I actually need a crane? +

When there's no safe area to fell or lower the tree into — typically large trees over buildings, conservatories or roads, very tall/heavy specimens, or gardens with no machinery access. We'll tell you honestly at survey whether crane-assist is needed or whether rigging will do.

Do you own the crane? +

The crane is supplied through our established crane partner. Ferguson provides the Level 3 climbers, ground crew and the lift planning — one accountable team running the job.

Who arranges road closures and permits? +

We do, where the lift needs them — traffic management and any permits for the set-up are arranged as part of the job and included in the quote.

What's the biggest tree you'll take? +

We specialise in large and mature trees and hold City & Guilds Level 3 (0039-34) for trees over 760mm diameter. If a job is beyond safe scope we'll say so honestly.

How is a crane removal priced? +

It depends on size, access, the crane time required and the drop zone — so we survey first. The site visit and written quote are free and without obligation.

Which areas do you cover? +

Greater London and Surrey, including Kingston, Esher, Cobham, Weybridge, Guildford, Woking, Reigate and Epsom.
