Storm-flattened, hung-up and dangerous timber recovered safely under tension across Surrey, London & the South East — estates and woodland made safe, with saleable timber recovered before it loses value.
Windblow is the most dangerous timber there is. Flattened trees are loaded under enormous tension, root-plates can flip, and hung-up stems can release the instant they're touched. People are seriously hurt every year tackling it without the right kit or training.
We assess each stem, plan the release sequence, and recover the timber under controlled conditions with our own crane, harvester and winch. Edward's City & Guilds Level 3 (over 760mm) and FISA-compliant method statements exist precisely for this kind of work.
The priority order is simple: make it safe, then recover the value, then leave the ground ready to replant.
Talk to us about storm damage →Storm-damaged woodland or a dangerous windblown tree? We prioritise storm work — call us first.
Windblown timber doesn't wait. Within weeks it stains, splits and is colonised by insects and fungi — downgrading sawlogs to firewood and firewood to waste. Speed is the only thing that protects the value.
We recover, cut to length, grade and market storm timber exactly as we would a planned harvest, placing each grade with the best-paying mill or biomass yard in our network. Where it has value, that offsets the cost of clearance.
For estates and farms with insurance involved, we provide clear records and photographs to support your claim, and we'll replant the cleared area where you want the woodland brought back.
We get to site as fast as access and safety allow and triage the danger.
Dangerous and hung-up stems released and removed under controlled conditions first.
Saleable timber harvested, graded and sold before it degrades.
Ground cleared, records provided for insurance, replanting where wanted.

Very — storm-flattened trees are under huge tension and hung-up stems can release without warning. It's specialist work. We assess and release timber under controlled conditions with our own crane and harvester; it's not a job for a general crew or for the landowner to tackle alone.
Often, yes, if it's recovered promptly before it stains, splits or is attacked by insects and fungi. We harvest, grade and market windblown timber the same as a planned crop — speed is what protects the value.
We prioritise storm and safety work. After a major weather event we mobilise as fast as access and safety allow — call us and we'll give you a realistic timeframe rather than an empty promise.
Clearing genuinely dangerous windblown trees is often exempt, but tidying and harvesting the wider area may not be. We confirm the position and manage any licence so the recovery stays legal.
